MISSION STATEMENT

To promote spiritual development & growth through the preaching and teaching of God's word, through evangelism, worship, fellowship, edification and ministry. In keeping with the scripture of Matthew 28:19-20, it is our desire that men, women, boys and girls will come to know a more excellent way of life through Jesus Christ and live in the fullness of God's Holy Word, by which they will be equipped with a Christ-like character that they may go forth to be disciple builders and do disciple building for the enhancement of God's Kingdom.

The men of Philemon Community Baptist Church bond together in the unity of Christian brotherhood to provide support to the church in Kingdom Building, and to enhance fellowship one with the other.

Christian Women's Ministry
Mission Statement
To organize fellowships and worship services to unite the women to worship the Lord in "spirit and in truth" (John 4:24), and to praise the Lord and be on one accord. All of the women of Philemon Commuunity Baptist Church, ages 18 and older, are members of this ministry which aims to enhance Kingdom Building.

Eclipse Ministry
Mission Statement
The beauty of an intercessor is to take a stand between the problem and the answer by praying unselfishly with perseverance in every manner.

Junior Church
Mission Statement
To educate and equip our children for Christian service and to be useful & successful individuals to society.

Music Ministry
Mission Statement
To assemble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, striving for excellence in service, character and actions; to spread the gospel through song and ministry, encouraging the saints supporting the ministry. Following the Pastor's vision "prayer", asking for power from the Holy Ghost to over take our mind that sinners may come running to Christ and deliverance will be established in their lives.

Pastoral Care Ministry
Mission Statement
To be an inspiration; assist, love, encourage and uplift our Pastoral Family.

Nurses' Ministry
Mission Statement
To educate our brothers and sisters in the benefits of health care and to assist anyone in need of medical care; to meet the personal needs of our Pastor, pulpit and congregation. Remembering, "A Good Nurse is God's Love on Display".

Praise Dance Ministry
Mission Statement
To worship God through the art of dance. Also to use God inspired gifts of drama and creative writings, allowing the Holy Spirit to flow through us, as God's inspirations are manifested in us, demonstrating His love to all and dancing as David danced...after God's own heart!

Praise Team Ministry
Mission Statement

Scholarship and Honor Roll Ministry (Lapsley Williams Scholarship)
Mission Statement
Individuals serving in this ministry promote scholastic accomplishments at all levels of education. Their work involves the recognition of Honor Roll students and other endeavors. At the end of the academic year, scholarships are awarded to deserving students.

Tape Ministry
Mission Statement
To provide a taped recording of Sunday's morning worship service to members who are sick or shut in. "We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good to edification." (Romans, 15:1-2)

Youth Council
Mission Statement
To provide activities designed to attract youth, so that they may become Christians. Develop and nurture their spiritual growth, once they have become Christians. Train and send them into the world as a group of powerful youth evangelists who can bring unsaved youth to Christ.

Youth Ministry
Mission Statement
To provide the youth of Philemon Community Baptist Church a way to give their ideas and input into the church. To develop and nurture their spiritual growth, to train and send into the world a group of powerful youth evangelists who can bring an unsaved youth to Christ; at the same time, get the youth active in the Church and in the community.

Youth Ushers Ministry
Mission Statement
To serve as doorkeepers in the house of the Lord; to worship with, minister to and love everyone that we serve. We will keep a smile on our faces, a prayer in our hearts, and show love and respect for everyone who enters the doors of the church.

Deacons' Ministry and Elders
Mission Statement
The word Deacon comes from the Greek work Diakones, meaning servant, a 'doer'. The first responbility of a Deacon is to God and total commitment to do His will, whether it is study or service, followed by the responsibility to aid and assist the Pastor, to work together for the advancement of God's Kingdom, that God will be glorified and the church edified.

Deaconess' Ministry and Ministers' Wives
Mission Statement

This ministry is responsible for preparing the communion elements, instructing candidates for baptism, welcoming and assisting new converts as they begin their Christian walk with the Lord; sharing in the Ministry of Deacons as it relates to visitation of the sick and bereaved; serving as role models for young ladies of the church and the community.

Trustees' Ministry
Mission Statement
To work as caretakers of the fiscal assets of Philemon Community Baptist Church, and negotiate all legal documents pertaining to this church. Continue to strive for the betterment of the congregation, making sure that business is run in a smooth and orderly manner, making appropriate use and being good stewards of what God has blessed our church with.

Mothers' Board
Mission Statement
To minister to and share with, the younger women of the church and to be a positive role model and a positive influence on their lives as they strive toward spiritual growth in order that they may foster a greater knowledge and practice of honoring God.

Adult Ushers Ministry
Mission Statement

Building Development and Improvement Ministry
Mission Statement
This ministry allows members to serve by making donations to the Building Development and Improvement Fund. Members contributing to this purpose will specify on their giving envelopes. Members can and are asked to pledge at any time.
